Description
The Faculty of Education in Gharyan was established in 1994 under the name The Higher Institute for Teacher Preparation – Gharyan. On 1 January 2005, the Higher Institute for Teacher Preparation in Gharyan was affiliated with Al-Jabal Al-Gharbi University under the name College of Teachers, Kikla, which included a branch in Gharyan. On 23 July 2009, the name of the college was changed from College of Teachers to Faculty of Education.
Subsequently, on 27 October 2013, and based on the decision of the Council of Ministers No. (639) of 2013, the Gharyan branch of the Faculty of Education was separated from the Faculty of Education in Kikla to become an independent institution under the name Faculty of Education – Gharyan, comprising nine (9) academic departments.**
Vision
The vision is to strive for the Faculty of Education in Gharyan to become the most distinguished institution in the field of teacher preparation, both pedagogically and academically, enabling graduates to enhance the quality of basic and secondary education within Libyan society. This vision is based on the following principles:
-Education and teaching are professions in continuous development, and the faculty works to keep pace with this progress.
-Recognizing that the role of the teacher is not merely that of a transmitter of information, but rather that of a planner and innovator.
-Emphasizing that securing the future is closely linked to education, with the faculty playing a central role in shaping it.
Mission
The mission of the Faculty of Education in Gharyan is to develop scientifically and pedagogically qualified professional cadres through continuous and distinguished preparation, and to conduct educational and scientific research whose outcomes contribute to raising the standard of basic and secondary education
Goals
Preparing and graduating qualified educational competencies and frameworks in various applied and theoretical sciences.
Contributing to the implementation of programs for the pedagogical and academic development of teachers across different specializations.
Conducting research and studies, and linking graduation projects to the basic and secondary education stages in order to develop and improve teaching methods and enhance the educational process.
Contributing to the development of educational thought, addressing educational and pedagogical problems, and promoting modern educational trends.
